Honorary Fitizen: Turtle
June 16, 2008
This week’s Honorary Fitizen is a staple on the streets of Hollywood… well, at least on HBO’s hit series Entourage he is.

Played by Jerry Ferrara, he is one part of the foursome that lives life on their own terms, and has tons of fun in the process. But Turtle himself is of special importance. Aside from his loyalty and resourcefulness (how many people do you know of that can convince a car dealership to give them a FREE MASERATI??), he is also fashionably inclined. I mean, he’s got a pair of $20,000 custom-made Nike Air Force 1’s designed solely for him. He’s always color-coordinated. Oh, and he almost always has a fitted cap on. Now that’s commitment to hats at it’s finest. So congratulations to you, Turtle. Entourage wouldn’t be as fly without you.

Fitizen now has an AIM screenname! It’s just another way for us to stay in contact with our developing community. Add FITIZEN to your buddy list. And if you have any questions, find something that doesn’t work, want to send a suggestion, or just plain say what’s up, feel free to instant message us.
A Fitizen Milestone

Pop quiz… what happens when you file a DBA with the State of California?
YOU GET JUNK MAIL!

Some may see it as a waste of mailbox space (that would probably be filled with bills anyway). But I see it as an initiation into the business realm. The world’s recognition of our presence. It just solidifies the fact that we’re officially out there even more. Plus, it’s pretty exciting to see our name in print on anything that we didn’t make ourselves. Even if it’s junk mail. I don’t know if you can tell, but I was pretty happy. I just hope it doesn’t start to become a nuisance.
SAVE A TREE, SEND AN EMAIL (because I have a junk mail folder that leads directly to trash… haha!)
Honorary Fitizen: Barack Obama
June 4, 2008
This week’s Honorary Fitizen is man who has defied the odds to make history. He stuck to his guns, weathered the storm, stayed true to himself, and has now become the very first African American to ever gain a major political party’s candidacy for the most important job on the planet. From humble beginnings to potential greatness, you embody everything that Fitizen represents. So congratulations to you, Barack Obama. You may still have a long way to go, but you’ve come a long way already.

Common Ground x Fitizen
June 3, 2008
We had the great pleasure of visiting Common Ground at their practice spot in Irvine.
Despite having a whole lot of members, it became obvious very quickly that they were a tight group. Amidst all the joking and warming up you could get the vibe of a real family. We met with Brian, co-director of CG and eventually gave our talk on Fitizen.

After having a discussion and answering some questions about the whole process we stayed after to see their practice, which I might add was awesome. I’ve heard RJ say that what makes a performance are those “oh sh*t” moments. That night, we saw plenty.

We will be going back next Monday to see what CG has cooked up. Can’t wait to see the designs.
Special thanks to our photographer (Thanks Aerika!) who is going back to Philippines this weekend!

AND WE’RE LIVE.
June 2, 2008
Today, our beta site goes live!
You’re able to do the basics, like creating an account, submitting designs, rating designs, and talking in the forum. (We’ll be ironing out the rough edges over the next few days, so please excuse any problems you encounter on the site.) Behind the scenes, we’ve been calling this our “bare bones phase” because we have plenty of features coming up for our official launch on September 5, when we will also be selling the first three winning designs. But until then, we’ve got exciting things lined up for Fitizen – including a launch party – so stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.
Lastly, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. This is the beginning of something big, and you’ll be one of the few who can say you were there when it started.
